To our Readers,

Arista Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a national presenter at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Brownfields 2001 Conference at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois on September 24 - 26. Arista will present the successes of the Taunton Brownfield Project on Tuesday, September 25 at 10:45am. For more details please visit www.brownfields2001.org

The Taunton Brownfield Project is unique in that the City of Taunton has completed planning, cleanup and redevelopment milestones of the Taunton Brownfield Master Plan developed in Fall 1996 for twenty-one (21) contiguous Brownfield sites, totaling approximately 100 acres. The sites range in size, type of contamination and historical use. They are located in a five-mile stretch along the Taunton River in the City's historic Weir Village, formerly a major commercial and industrial corridor.

The Taunton Brownfield Master Plan goals were to: 1) protect public health; 2) protect natural resources; 3) reclaim Brownfield properties for active use; and 4) create new jobs and economic growth in revitalized urban areas. These goals have been achieved resulting in 19 of 21 sites reclaimed for active use; protection of a critical natural resource, the Taunton River; creation of 200 new permanent jobs in the City; public and private partnerships; and a stimulus for 200 jobs during active construction and cleanup phases at Brownfield sites. The total environmental investment for Brownfield assessment and cleanup at these sites resulted in funding allocations at 45% federal; 35% private; 10% state and 10% municipal. The 'Silver City' of Taunton is projecting city — wide cleanup of all Brownfield sites in approximately two years.

Arista is also pleased to announce a recent contract award by the National Atmospheric Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to perform environmental site assessment of a 10-acre Brownfield land parcel, Riverside Park, New Bedford, Massachusetts. This historic land parcel and former location of the Pierce Mill facility is part of the City of New Bedford's Brownfield Redevelopment Plan to transform this resource into a public park located along the scenic Acushnet River. The City of New Bedford is an EPA Show Case Community.

With 6,000+ Brownfield sites across the country, Arista is proud to service our municipal clients as well as our commercial, industrial and private clientele seeking redevelopment opportunities in Brownfield properties. The progress we achieve to enhance these blighted areas is a critical environmental, economic and social investment in our communities. We are thrilled to work in an area of opportunity to transform Brownfield properties into vital hubs in our communities.

Arista looks forward to seeing our colleagues and clients at the Brownfields 2001 Conference in Chicago. Should you need further information or conference briefing details, please contact us.

Very Truly Yours,
Andrea Papadopoulos
